Zeus St Greek
What was once a quiet street corner off Lyons Road in Drummoyne is a now a bustling casual Greek eatery serving up delicious gyro's (aka the greek kebab) along with a selection slow cooked meats (12hrs), sides, dips and for dessert, loukoumades (greek donuts).
The food is simple and fresh with flavours that aren't shy. For $9.50 you can get a pita/gyro ranging from the Uncle Tzimmy Classic; char-grilled pork, lamb or chicken with tomato, tzatziki, onion, paprika and hot chips wrapped in warm pita bread, to the Poseidon; lightly fried prawns with Aegean slaw, preserved lemon mayo, caramelized onion, honey and coriander. But I find the best way to start is with the house made pita with a serving or two of the taramosalata dip followed by the one of the gyro's.
The interior is sleek with tones of black, gold, white brick and tile and timber. It's casual and nice enough to have a date on a Friday night, but you might have to get in early because theres generally a queue out the door from 7pm.
